Jess Grant Celebration Trustees’ visit to Zest
Thank you very much to everyone at Zest for welcoming us into the hospice on Friday 3rd July . It is always a pleasure to sit in on a Zest Music Day and to see the impact that music is having on the young adults, carers and staff. Special thanks to Lesley Burrows and Cath Markham, who took time out of their busy days to show us around and to share feedback and plans for Zest in the future.
Music Therapist, Daisy Williamson, expertly led the summer-themed session, with help from George on keyboard. With songs such as Walking on Sunshine, The Boys of Summer and Summer of ’69, the room was full of smiles, the sound of musical instruments, singing and dancing. Daisy explained that the sessions later that day would consist of one-to-one music therapy and, as we were privileged to see last year, are tailored specifically to the individual’s needs.
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped Jess’ charity to fund Zest Music Days. Zest is truly ground-breaking, providing a dedicated service for young adults transitioning from children’s to adult’s hospices. We feel very proud to be supporting this fantastic resource.
